The Norfolk Probate District was constituted May 1779, from the Litchfield and Simsbury Probate Districts. The Norfolk Probate District merged with the Canaan, Cornwall, Salisbury, and Sharon Probate Districts on January 1, 2007 to create the Northwest Corner Probate District. The Northwest Corner Probate District merged with the Harwinton, Litchfield, and Thomaston Probate Districts on January 5, 2011, to create the Litchfield Hills Probate District, which currently serves the municipalities of Canaan, Cornwall, Harwinton, Kent, Litchfield, Morris, Norfolk, North Canaan, Salisbury, Sharon, Thomaston, and Warren.

The North Branford Probate District was constituted April 14, 1937, from the Guilford and Wallingford Probate Districts. The North Branford Probate District merged with the Branford Probate District on January 5, 2011 to create the Branford – North Branford Probate District, which currently serves the municipalities of Branford and North Branford.

The Canaan Probate District, constituted June 6, 1846, from the Sharon Probate District, has processed probate matters for the Town of North Canaan from its incorporation.
The Canaan Probate District merged with the Cornwall, Norfolk, Salisbury, and Sharon Probate Districts on January 1, 2007 to create the Northwest Corner Probate District. The Northwest Corner Probate District merged with the Harwinton, Litchfield, and Thomaston Probate Districts on January 5, 2011, to create the Litchfield Hills Probate District. The North Haven Probate District was constituted January 5, 1955, from the New Haven Probate District. The North Haven Probate District merged with the East Haven Probate District on January 5, 2011 to create the East Haven – North Haven Probate District which presently serves the municipalities of East Haven and North Haven.

The North Stonington Probate District was constituted June 4, 1835, from the Stonington Probate District. The North Stonington Probate District merged with the Groton, Ledyard, and Stonington Probate Districts on January 5, 2011 to create the Southeastern Corner Regional Probate District, which currently serves the municipalities of Groton, Ledyard, North Stonington, and Stonington.

The Norwalk Probate District was constituted May 1802, from the Fairfield and Stamford Probate Districts. The Norwalk Probate District presently serves the municipalities of Norwalk and Wilton. The Norwalk Probate District also included the municipality of New Canaan from May 1802 to June 21, 1937.

The Norwich Probate District was constituted October, 1748, from the New London Probate District. The Norwich Probate District serves the municipalities of Bozrah, Franklin, Griswold, Lisbon, Norwich, Preston, Sprague, and Voluntown.

Town incorporated 1855 as South Lyme, name changed to Old Lyme in 1857. Parent town: Lyme.
The Old Lyme (South Lyme) Probate District was constituted in May 1855 from the Lyme Probate District. The Old Lyme Probate District merged with the East Lyme, Montville, and Salem Probate Districts on January 5, 2011 to create the Niantic Regional Probate Court (district #32), which currently serves the municipalities of East Lyme, Montville, Old Lyme, and Salem.
Note: Probate records concerning Old Lyme, from May 1, 1666 to June 4, 1830, are in New London; records from June 4, 1830 to 2011 are in Old Lyme.
