The Brooklyn Probate District was constituted June 4, 1833, from the Plainfield and Pomfret Probate Districts. The Brooklyn Probate District merged on January 5, 2011 with the Ashford, Eastford (part), Pomfret, Putnam, Thompson, and Woodstock Probate Districts to create the Northeast Probate District. The Northeast Probate District serves the municipalities of Ashford, Brooklyn, Eastford, Pomfret, Putnam, Thompson, and Woodstock.

The Burlington Probate District was constituted June 3, 1834, from the Farmington Probate District. The Burlington Probate District merged with the Farmington Probate District on January 5, 2011 to create the Farmington and Burlington Probate District which served the municipalities of Burlington and Farmington. On January 9, 2019 the district expanded to include Plainville and became the Farmington Regional Probate District.

The Canaan Probate District was constituted June 6, 1846, from the Sharon Probate District, and served the municipalities of Canaan and North Canaan. The Canaan Probate District merged with the Cornwall, Norfolk, Salisbury, and Sharon Probate Districts on January 1, 2007 to create the Northwest Corner Probate District. The Northwest Corner Probate District merged with the Harwinton, Litchfield, and Thomaston Probate Districts on January 5, 2011, to create the Litchfield Hills Probate District, which currently serves the municipalities of Canaan, Cornwall, Harwinton, Kent, Litchfield, Morris, Norfolk, North Canaan, Salisbury, Sharon, Thomaston, and Warren.

The Canterbury Probate District was constituted May 27, 1835, from the Plainfield Probate District. The Canterbury Probate District Probate District merged with the Plainfield and Sterling Probate Districts on January 8, 2003 to form a single Plainfield Probate District. The Plainfield Probate District merged with the Killingly Probate District on January 5, 2011 to create the Plainfield - Killingly Probate District, which serves the municipalities of Canterbury, Killingly, Plainfield, and Sterling.

The Canton Probate District was constituted June 7, 1841 from the Simsbury Probate District. It served the municipality of Canton. The Canton Probate District merged on January 5, 2011 with the Avon, Granby, and Simsbury Probate Districts to create the Simsbury Regional Probate District, which serves the municipalities of Avon, Canton, Granby, and Simsbury.

The Chaplin Probate District was constituted June 7, 1850, from the Windham Probate District. The Chaplin Probate District was absorbed by the Eastford Probate District on October 1, 1996. On January 5, 2011, the Chaplin section of the Eastford Probate District merged with the Colchester, Hampton, and Windham Probate Districts to create the Windham - Colchester Probate District, which currently serves the municipalities of Chaplin, Colchester, Hampton, Lebanon, Scotland, and Windham.

The Cheshire Probate District was constituted May 27, 1829, from the Wallingford Probate District. The Cheshire Probate District merged with the Southington Probate District on January 5, 2011 to create the Cheshire - Southington Probate District, which currently serves the municipalities of Cheshire and Southington.

The Saybrook Probate District, which was constituted during the May 1780 session from the Guilford Probate District, served the town of Chester on probate matters from its incorporation. From January 5, 1949 to January 4, 2011 it served only the municipality of Chester. On January 5, 2011 the Saybrook District absorbed the Clinton, Deep River, Essex, Haddam, Killingworth, Lyme, Old Saybrook, and Westbrook districts to create the newly enlarged Saybrook Probate District, which currently serves the municipalities of Chester, Clinton, Deep River, Essex, Haddam, Killingworth, Lyme, Old Saybrook, and Westbrook.

The Clinton Probate District merged with the Deep River, Essex, Haddam, Killingworth, Lyme, Old Saybrook, Saybrook, and Westbrook Probate Districts on January 5, 2011 to create the Saybrook Probate District, which currently serves the municipalities of Chester, Clinton, Deep River, Essex, Haddam, Killingworth, Lyme, Old Saybrook, and Westbrook.
