The Colchester Probate District was constituted May 29, 1832, from the East Haddam Probate District. It served the municipality of Colchester and also the municipality of Marlborough from May 29, 1832 to June 11, 1846, and the part of Salem taken from Colchester from May 29, 1832 to July 9, 1841. The Colchester Probate District merged with the Eastford (part), Hampton, and Windham Probate Districts on January 5, 2011 to create the Windham - Colchester Probate District, which serves the municipalities of Chaplin, Colchester, Hampton, Lebanon, Scotland, and Windham.

Probate matters for the town of Colebrook were handled first by the Norfolk Probate District from 1779 to May 30, 1838, when the Winchester Probate District, which served Colebrook and Winchester, was constituted. The Winchester Probate District merged with the New Hartford and Torrington Probate Districts on January 5, 2011 to create the Torrington Area Probate District which currently serves the municipalities of Barkhamsted, Colebrook, Goshen, Hartland, New Hartford, Torrington, and Winchester.

Probate matters for the town of Columbia were processed by the Windham, Hebron and then the Andover Probate Districts. The Cornwall Probate District was constituted June 15, 1847, from the Litchfield Probate District. The Cornwall Probate District merged with the Canaan, Norfolk, Salisbury, and Sharon Probate Districts on January 1, 2007 to create the Northwest Corner Probate District. The Northwest Corner Probate District merged with the Harwinton, Litchfield, and Thomaston Probate Districts on January 5, 2011, to create the Litchfield Hills Probate District, which currently serves the municipalities of Canaan, Cornwall, Harwinton, Kent, Litchfield, Morris, Norfolk, North Canaan, Salisbury, Sharon, Thomaston, and Warren.

The Coventry Probate District was constituted June 19, 1849, from the Hebron Probate District. The Coventry Probate District merged with the Mansfield Probate District on January 6, 1999 to form a single Mansfield Probate District. The Mansfield Probate District merged with the Tolland Probate District on January 5, 2011 to create the Mansfield - Tolland Probate District which serves the municipalities of Coventry, Mansfield, Tolland, and Willington.

The Middletown Probate District, constituted May 1752 from the East Haddam, Guilford, and Hartford Probate Districts, has processed probate matters for the Town of Cromwell from its incorporation. The Darien Probate District was constituted May 18, 1921, from the Stamford Probate District. It merged on January 5, 2011 with the New Canaan Probate District to create the Darien – New Canaan Probate District. The Darien – New Canaan Probate District serves the municipalities of Darien and New Canaan.

Established in 1635, and named Saybrook in 1639. The town changed its name to Deep River in 1947.
The Saybrook Probate District was constituted in May, 1780, from the New London Probate District. The Deep River Probate District was split off from the Saybrook Probate District on January 5, 1949, leaving only the town of Chester within the old Saybrook Probate District. The Deep River Probate District merged with the Clinton, Essex, Haddam, Killingworth, Lyme, Old Saybrook, Saybrook, and Westbrook Probate Districts on January 5, 2011 to create an enlarged Saybrook Probate District, which currently serves the municipalities of Chester, Clinton, Deep River, Essex, Haddam, Killingworth, Lyme, Old Saybrook, and Westbrook.
