Established 1675.
The Derby Probate Court was constituted July 4, 1858, from the New Haven Probate District. It also processed probate matters for the towns of Ansonia since April 1889 and Seymour since January 1, 1899. On January 5, 2011 the Derby Probate District merged with the Woodbridge Probate District to enlarge the Derby Probate District and serve the municipalities of Ansonia, Derby, Seymour, and Woodbridge.

The Middletown Probate District was constituted May 1752 from the East Haddam, Guilford, and Hartford Probate Districts and has processed probate matters for the Town of Durham from that time. The Middletown Probate District serves the municipalities of Cromwell, Durham, Middlefield, and Middletown.

The East Granby Probate District was constituted July 4, 1865, from the Granby Probate District. The East Granby Probate District merged with the Suffield Probate District on January 3, 2007, and later with the Bloomfield and Windsor Locks Probate Districts on January 5, 2011 to create the Tobacco Valley Probate District, which now serves the municipalities of Bloomfield, East Granby, Suffield, and Windsor Locks.

The East Haddam Probate District was constituted October 1741, from the Hartford Probate District. The East Haddam Probate District merged with the East Hampton, Marlborough, and Portland Probate Districts on January 5, 2011 to create the Region #14 Probate District, which currently serves the municipalities of East Haddam, East Hampton, Marlborough and Portland.

Incorporated as the town of Chatham 1767, renamed "East Hampton" 1915. Parent town: Middletown.
The Chatham (now East Hampton) Probate District was constituted June 1, 1824, from the Middletown and East Haddam Probate Districts. The Chatham Probate District changed its name to the East Hampton Probate District in 1921. The East Hampton Probate District merged with the East Haddam, Marlborough and Portland Probate Districts on January 5, 2011 to create the Region #14 Probate District, which now serves the municipalities of East Haddam, East Hampton, Marlborough and Portland.

The East Hartford Probate District was constituted May 1887, from the Hartford Probate District. The East Hartford Probate District serves the municipality of East Hartford. The East Haven Probate District was originally constituted August 1868 from the New Haven Probate District, but was annexed back into that district in 1883. The estate papers for this “old” East Haven district (August 1868-January 1883) are included with those of the New Haven Probate District. A “new” East Haven Probate District was constituted on January 5, 1955 from the New Haven Probate District. In 2011 the East Haven Probate District merged with the North Haven Probate District to create the East Haven – North Haven Probate District, which currently serves the municipalities of East Haven and North Haven.

The East Lyme Probate District was constituted on July 9, 1841 from the Colchester and New London Probate Districts. The East Lyme Probate District merged with the Salem, Montville, and Old Lyme Probate Districts on January 5, 2011 to create the Region #32 Probate District, which currently serves the municipalities of East Lyme, Montville, Old Lyme, and Salem.
