About the Commission on Forests and Wildlife

Founded in 1925 under Chapter 8 (Public Act), the Commission on Forests and Wildlife was originally established to manage land buying by the Park and Forest Commission and the Fisheries and Game Commission. In 1971, Public Act 71-872 merged the Commission on Forests and Wildlife into  the then new Department of Environmental Protection, which would later become the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
