The Connecticut State Library holds most pre-1850 probate estate papers and, for much of the state, papers dated into the 1900s. Most have been indexed in the Library's Probate Estate Papers Index. The index cards are arranged alphabetically by individual's last name and first names. The cards have the individual's name, town of residence, probate district, and list of items contained in the estate packet. The index is viewable online in person at a Family History Center.
Most of the estate papers have been microfilmed. The microfilms are available here. Family Search has also been digitizing the microfilm. Most are viewable in person at a Family History Center.
