This is an index to articles of incorporation kept by the Commercial Recording Division of the office of the Secretary of the State. There are three types of entity covered by this index:

  • Joint stock companies (1837-1909)
  • Chartered companies (1874-1945)
  • Voluntary associations without capital (1845-1943)

Articles of incorporation/company charters were originally granted solely by the General Assembly, which continued to grant them up through the 20th century. If a company or organization does not appear here, check the following indexes to private and special acts of the state of Connecticut:

There may be a small fee, depending on the size of the order and whether you would like a digital or physical copy. When requesting a copy of a record or file, please include the information from the relevant entry in the index.
