Using Archives & Secured Collections

Important Notice!

Please Note: Some archival records stored at our off-site facility are unavailable in preparation for and installation of new compact shelving. State Archives staff anticipates these records will gradually be made available starting in July 2025. For the status of specific record groups, contact History and Genealogy Unit reference staff by email: CSL.ISREF@ct.gov or phone: (860) 757-6580, or State Archives staff by email: CT.Archives@ct.govWe apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience during this time

Collections, including the State Archives, that require special care and handling because of their unique nature, their fragility, or a combination of factors are located in limited access areas. Use the information in this guide to learn how to request and view archival records.  The link to the State Archives Finding Aids will show what original materials we hold.
