Connecticut divorces are processed in the superior court in the county where the plaintiff resided. The following are scanned images of the indexes to the New London County Superior Court divorce judgment volumes for the 1857-1974 time period that are part of the Connecticut State Archives, archival record group (RG) #003, Records of the Judicial Department.
If a record of divorce is found in any of the below New London Superior Court divorce indexes, and a reproduction of the original record is desired, you may submit a request via E-mail or by contacting the History & Genealogy Unit of the Connecticut State Library at (860) 757-6580. Pre-payment is not needed as a bill will accompany the finished product, either in the mail with photocopies or with the digital images.
Additional information may also be available regarding divorces within the New London Superior Court Civil Court case files which are also housed within the Connecticut State Archives for the years covering the 1857 to 1969 time period. If a record of judgment is found you may also request the case file as well which may contain a great deal of information regarding the divorce case. Please inform the librarian if you would like to have both the record of judgment and the civil case file copied when placing reproduction request.
