As one of the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) flagship publications, The Condition of Education gives a current look at state of education in the U.S., presenting statistical information with contextual paragraphs.
NCES: "The Condition of Education contains key indicators on all levels of education, labor force outcomes, and international comparisons. The indicators summarize important developments and trends using the latest statistics, which are updated throughout the year as new data become available. Spotlight indicators provide more in-depth analyses on selected topics. In addition, the more succinct Report on the Condition of Education, which highlights and synthesizes key findings from the Condition of Education, is also available in PDF format."
The indicators draw from various data sources, such as NCES surveys and data from other federal agencies.
NCES recent changes to website:
"In 2021, NCES has launched a multi-phase effort to update the web pages for the Annual Reports and Information Staff (Annual Reports). The first phase of the web updates occurred in May when the latest edition of the Condition of Education was released. There are now two new explore features to search indicators based on topic areas (e.g., postsecondary faculty and staff) as well as subgroup characteristics (e.g., educational attainment, time series, and race/ethnicity)."
"In addition, the updated Indicators of School Crime and Safety are now released through the Condition of Education Indicator System. The older versions of these indicators will still be available through the Annual Reports Publications page."
