The Connecticut Union List of Serials (CULS) is a list of print and microfilm journal and newspaper holdings for close to 400 libraries in CT. It is hosted and maintained at OCLC. There are approximately 60,000 titles and 150,000 holdings in CULS.
There are 3 Excel versions of CULS below, each sorted differently:
Some things to keep in mind and some tips on using the Excel version of CULS:
The Local Holdings Offline Product is available from OCLC at no charge. Individual libraries can order a tab deliminated file of all of the local holdings they currently have in the Connecticut Union List of Serials from the OCLC site: https://www3.oclc.org/app/lhop/ .
Once produced the tab delimited file will be available for download from the Product Services Web and can be imported into a spreadsheet such as Excel. If your library has more than 20,000 local holdings records, multiple files will be provided. If you do not have an OCLC authorization and password, you can reply to the email that OCLC will send you asking for a temporary authorization and password to use to get the report.
A Quick Reference guide is available that covers the order process, how to download the file, and information on how to import the file into Microsoft Office Excel.
Libraries with cataloging subscriptions to OCLC may update their serials holdings directly on OCLC. Libraries without OCLC subscriptions may send their update information to Gail Hurley at the Connecticut State Library to imput into OCLC.
