Vital Records for Connecticut

Information about Connecticut Vital Records

Most original vital records in Connecticut are located at each Town or City Hall in the state. Beginning in July of 1897, the Connecticut State Department of Health, Vital Records Division, began to collect a state copy of each towns' vital records. For current or twentieth century vital records, please contact the Town where the event occurred or the CT State Department of Health Vital Records Division.

For genealogy researchers, this guide provides information about pre-1900 vital records,  available indexes, and pages with links to digitized collections by Town. We hope you will find this page of help.
