Find family bible and other records online in the collection at the Connecticut State Library

These manuscript items were originally filed in the History & Genealogy Reading Room, but were transferred to the Archives between 1990 and 1994. They have been digitized and are now available online. The files are arranged alphabetically by family name. You can browse through the collection or search the collection for files containing specific surnames, using the search box below.

When you have found and opened a family file, we recommend that you consult the PDF version (labeled "Service File (0)," to the right of the book reader panel) -- the PDF will be much easier to work with. Many of the family bibles have been transcribed and added to the Connecticut Family Bible Records Collection a bound set in the reference section of the History and Genealogy unit. To find out, look in the "Metadata" section, below the book reader panel. If the file has been transcribed, volume and page information will be included in a "Note" field near the bottom of the screen.
