Level Up at Your Library

Play is one of the ways we learn to relate to others, to think in new ways, and to foster friendships, new and old. Level Up at Your Library is an all ages summer reading program based around puzzles and games. Whether you’re playing with STEM concepts or gamifying your reading logs, learning to play chess or how to code video games, iREAD 2025: Level Up at Your Library reminds us that libraries are not just a space for knowledge, they are a space for fun!

CT State Library Suggested Summer Reading List

The CT State Library is proud to share, for the first time, the 2025 CT State Library Suggested Summer Reading List! Our libraries have a lot of books, and through resource sharing, we have access to even more books, and at times, it can be overwhelming for kids, teens, and caregivers. The Suggest Summer Reading list has been compiled around this year's theme, Level up at Your Library, full of play, games, puzzles, and adventure.

The suggested list is just that, suggested! It's been created to provide guidance to library workers and a starting point to library users that matches the age breakdowns and number of titles as the Department of Education reading challenge lists.

The list has been created with accessibility at the helm. The titles and descriptions have been created using 16 point font as is recommended for readers who may have low vision and we have used dyslexia friendly font. Each graphic image has corresponding alt text, the heading colors are Web Content Accessibility Guideline (WCAG) compliant, and the PDF's are screen reader friendly.

Reading is for everyone!
