Probate Estate Paper Index

The Connecticut State Library holds most pre-1850 probate estate papers and, for much of the state, papers dated into the 1900s. Most have been indexed in the Library's Probate Estate Papers Index. The index cards are arranged alphabetically by individual's last name and first names. The cards have the individual's name, town of residence, probate district, and list of items contained in the estate packet.

An index card for an estate file

Probate estate files were microfilmed by the Utah Genealogical Society from 1977-1979, and are now available online through FamilySearch. Files are arranged by district, and then by last name. See the Probate Estate Files Directory for links to each District.
