Project Name: REPRESENT: What makes you special? Community Art Project

Purpose: An opportunity for families to create something meaningful and grow closer without cost, facilitated by a professional artist in order to make the project accessible for all.

Grant Funding Amount: $2,000

Key Elements:

  • Community art project inspired by PostSecret.
  • Families collaborate to create postcards celebrating their identities in response to the question: “What makes you special?”
  • Postcards will be exhibited at the library as well as in digital format.
  • Free and open to families of all ages and skill sets.
  • Opportunity for families to share in a new way and learn about their fellow residents.

Target Audiences: Families of all ages, but especially those with teens and 'tweens.

Community Support: Hubcap Wallingford, Wallingford Public Schools, Spanish Community of Wallingford

Use of grant funds: artist-in-residence fee, materials and supplies

  • Discovering more about themselves by connecting to others
  • Having fun in a safe and welcoming environment
  • Connects them to their families and the community-at-large in a meaningful way
