Transformation for Libraries: The Futures School (TFSX)

Resources on Futures Thinking and Strategic Foresight

Hands-on, Library-Centered Think Tank
Foundations in Natural Foresight®

Built on a vision of developing learning experiences that help you to be “fueled by foresight” in all that you do – this unique training program is presented in partnership with TFSX. As of 2023, nearly 300 librarians have participated. It emerged from a growing realization among leaders and organizations that success in the 21st century landscape of rapid change means we must embrace new pathways to the future. In other words, we need to foster mindsets and skills that help us to seize untapped possibilities and opportunities.

*With tangible results and a repeatable framework, you’ll be on your way to developing a foresight mindset and skillset, ensuring you are primed for market-leading innovation, successful opportunity development, and revenue-generating futures intelligence. Ultimately, in this collaborative experience, you will learn a strategic framework that gives you the confidence to lead the transformation of our library organizations.

Testimonials

“TFSX provided a powerful, engaging way to deconstruct our biases and environmental variables to predict various future scenarios that affect our long-term vision and mission.”

– Doug Casey, Executive Director, Connecticut Commission for Educational Technology, CT 2020 Cohort

“Participating in this workshop inspired me to think about the future of libraries in a whole new way. I gained new insights, learned new tools and best of all, learned a new way of thinking.”

– Peggy Cadigan, Deputy State Librarian for Innovation, New Jersey State Library, MD 2021 Cohort

“Learning how to think about and consider the future opens up our opportunities to be creators of the future now. The three-day deep dive into foresight practice is just what you need to get started.”

– Stacey A. Aldrich, State Librarian, Hawaii State Public Library System, HI 2021 Cohort

“The program gave me tools and strategies to proactively plan for the future. I no longer feel like I am at the whim of a fickle world but that I am an instrument to create a better world. Yvette, Nicole, and Frank were the perfect mix of professional and fun. The music was awesome. I'd love to be able to hang out with my cohort in real-time because our conversations were just getting started when the time was up.”

– Sonia Nelson, Librarian, St. Joseph’s Preparatory School Library, December 2021 Cohort

“I am a board member of an organization that has a charismatic founder and leader. She often says that she wants the organization to be sustainable without her leadership. We have taken some steps toward that end, but I foresee that having the futures training and helping the organization to visualize where they want to go will give us better tools to trust the foundation she's built and keep working toward the group goals.”

– West Coast, February 2022 Cohort
