Project Name: Fur-Get the Stress

Purpose: Provide an easy and fun participation activity to support student wellness

Grant Funding Amount: $3,000

Key Elements: student visits with therapy animals, easy participation, photographic souvenirs, photography mural, social media connections with the therapy animals, speaker series and supporting library collections

Target Audience: UMass medical school students

Community Support: Student Affairs, Medical Education Department, Diversity & Inclusion Department, Animal Medicine Department, student government

Use of grant funds: animal handler fees and travel, cleanup fees, camera and film, speaker fees, library books

Why:

  • To counteract high rates of depression among medical students
  • To support student wellness
