We will invite all libraries that participated in the EXCITE project, including the pilot, Cohorts 1 and 2, and any of the Bootcamps, to nominate their teams for an additional opportunity to compete for project funding in Connecticut. Six All-Star Teams will be chosen, based on the teams' demonstrated motivation and collaboration. Instructor Jeanine Esposito will conduct coaching sessions with the entire group leading up to the final pitch event.
To help All-Star Teams participate in the pitch session, CSL will offer non-competitive grants of up to $2,000 per team to offset costs for travel, lodging, and staff coverage while participants are away.
The All-Star Teams will come together for three days from May 19-21, 2020, in Middletown, CT, to finalize their program details and implementation plans through feedback from Innovation Builders and other participants. The teams will pitch their projects to a funding panel featuring entrepreneurs, marketing experts, and librarians. The panel will award seed grants of up to $5,000 to be spent on program supplies, contractors, staff, and other project expenses.
After receiving their seed funding, each All-Star Team will have six months from June to November 2020 to enact their new program/service and three months to report on it, with final reports due on February 28, 2021. During this period, Innovation Builders will provide coaching calls as teams carry out the programs they developed, ensuring greater chances of success.
