Snap Circuits, Little Bits and Makey Makey Kits

The Willimantic Library Service Center has maker kits for you to try out in your libraries. We have two LittleBits Workshop Sets, one set of six Makey Makeys, and two kits of Snap Circuits, which each include two Educational Sets and two special sets (in one, Sound and Light, in the other, Motion and Green)

We are very excited to have keynote speaker, Teri Lesesne, author of Naked Reading:  Uncovering What Tweens Need to Become Lifelong Readers.  Teri is Professor in the Department of Library Science at Same Houston State University, where she teaches literature for children and young adults.  She also hosts a YA literature blog as Proffessornana:

Linda Williams will lead a group discussion about how to connect what we heard in the morning session to our goals for summer reading.

Summer Reading Survey

The 2015 Summer Reading Survey is now in progress!

ALL libraries are encouraged to complete the survey.  Any library that completes the survey is eligible to receive a free summer 2016 summer reading manual.  We will ship the manuals as completed surveys are received, starting in October.

Summer Reader/Wandoo Reader

 Evanced has been chosen  to provide online summer reading through 2018.  Libraries will have a choice of Summer Reader or Wandoo Reader in 2016 and 2017, with a migration to Wandoo reader exclusively in 2018.  These products are available to all Connecticut public libraries free of charge.  If you used Summer Reader or Wandoo Reader before, you account is still active and your login information is the same. We will post information on creating new accounts shortly.

There will be training on both programs; time, place, and format to be announced.  Go to the Summer Reading 2016 page for updates on  summer 2016.

Mother Goose Kits

The Mother Goose kits are back!  We are "rebooting" our collection of Mother Goose Kits from the Vermont Center for the Book.  All of the kits have been refreshed with materials such as mirrors, bug boxes, dominoes or magnifiers.  They circulate for 2 1/2 months.  Request them using this Mother Goose Kit Google form.
